5TH SRI LANKA GRADUATE STUDENT CONFERENCE SCHEDULED FOR NOVEMBER 7–8, 2014

The American Institute for Sri Lankan Studies and the Center for South Asia, Stanford University, announce that the 5th Sri Lanka Graduate Student Workshop will take place at Stanford University on November 7–8 , 2014.  The theme for this year’s workshop is “Sri Lanka Otherwise? Resituating Topography and Temporality.”  In addition to the usual closed pre-dissertation development seminar for selected participants and the public sessions where advanced graduate students present their research findings, there will be a session devoted to the discussion of writings of the late Professor Stanley Tambiah.  A call for papers will be issued in August.  Some financial support will be available to help cover travel expenses for workshop participants.
