The American Institute for Lankan Studies Center is located
in Colombo.

Ira Unamboowe in the AISLS library
The Executive Director of the center is Mrs. Ira Unamboowe. She is assisted by Mrs. Deepthi Guneratne and Mr. M. de S. Weerasooriya.
The Center sponsors invitational workshops and small conferences.
These meetings bring together academics, researchers, and others from Sri Lanka and the United
States who have a common scholarly interest. The Center also offers a reference library of about
1,500 books and a selection of journals, offprints, conference proceedings, and electronic
resources.
The center provides additional services to AISLS Fellows and AISLS members.
The Colombo staff will procure and ship documents and publications for these
individuals at cost. To make use of this service,
the center staff.
Once you have received your materials, if you are paying in dollars send your check, made out to
AISLS, to John Rogers, 155 Pine St., Belmont, MA 02478.
In addition, the staff is available to advise AISLS
members and fellows regarding practical matters such as living arrangements,
security and safety, physician referrals, and travel arrangements, and to offer assistance
in locating translators and research assistants.
The center staff invites you to visit when you are in Colombo.
The Center is located at 5/22 Sulaiman Terrace, Colombo 5. Sulaiman Terrace is off the
southern end of Jawatta Road. After turning into Sulaiman Terrace, take your first left
and go to the end of the lane.
