Travel Grants for Participants in the South Asia “Dissertation-to-Book” Workshop, Madison, WI, 25-26 October 2017

The American Institute for Sri Lankan Studies (AISLS) will make travel grants of $350 to members who participate in the “dissertation-to-book” workshop organized by the American Institute of Indian Studies, which will be held in Madison on the evening of 25 October 2017 and all day 26 October 2017 (at the beginning of the Annual Conference on South Asia). Individuals with a tenure-track position in the 2017-18 academic year and those who live in the Madison metropolitan area are not eligible for the grant. Grant applicants must be individual members of AISLS on 15 July 2017, or have a current affiliation with an AISLS member institution. Their dissertation must also have a significant Sri Lanka component. Persons who are accepted for the workshop and who qualify for this grant should contact John Rogers at rogersjohnd at Payment will be by post the week after the workshop.

The workshop organizers welcome applications from recent PhDs whose work is on Sri Lanka or any other region of South Asia.  Applications to participate are due by July 15. 2017. Required is an email containing a current CV; the dissertation abstract, its table of contents, and its first chapter plus a draft book prospectus.
